this week’s color story was inspired by all the pretty that are in season right now — my very favorite florals. and i mean, who doesn’t have a nostalgic fondness for pale pink peeking back from their childhood at some time or another? from pretty to flouncy and elegant , we’re all about the pink today.

papaya striped beach towels from serena & lily styled by cowboy pool. / sfgirlbybay

i’m so looking forward to summer, but not as much excited about L.A.’s killer summer heat, but i’ve got that covered now, thanks to my diy cowboy pool. but i was in need of new pool towels, so when invited me to pick out and share some of my favorites from their it was perfect timing. with living well begins at home and they really do have everything you need to prep for summer, so i chose their super soft in papaya to hang poolside and love the color and grey fringe which matches my bench cushions perfectly.

i’m a big fan, and literally, everything at will be on sale and open to the public may 22 thru may 28 with the sale code SUMMERPREP (excluding final sale, gift certificates, art, and their limited-edition ). in addition to my new i’m thinking about their cute for super hot days when i need a little extra shade. i host a lot of outdoor parties in the summer, so i also love their and for extra guest seating that both easily fold up when i don’t need it. whatever you need to prep for summer will be on sale with code SUMMERPREP! happy prepping!

custom built-in sofa. / sfgirlbybay

popular in the 1950 & 60’s built-in furniture seems to be making a strong comeback. and there’s a lot to love about built-in furniture — for one, it’s custom, which means if done correctly and customized to your own very specific needs it should end up looking perfectly ideal for your space. i see them more and more in vacation rental homes, too because just think — you don’t have to go running around for new furniture or worry about it’s upkeep as much, so concrete or wood built-in’s are quite functional and practical in that regard, too. add slipcovered cushions and all that’s needed is washing and replacing every few years if they get a lot of wear and tear — but still more affordable than a new piece of furniture. if you’ve got an awkward nook or a wide window just aching for a place to read and recline or create a wee dining space, built-in window seats and sofas are both charming and useful. here are a few looks i really like.
